Volunteer Day

1st Wednesday of the Month

We want to keep our facilities lookin' good and could use some extra hands to help with special projects.  Our custodial and maintenance staff are doing a great job but there is not enough time to get it all done.  We have designated the first Wednesday of each month as Volunteer Day.  If you can fix, clean, paint, etc., please come from 9:00am to noon.  We will begin on Wednesday, June 4th.  We'll have a list of projects from which to choose.  Hope to see you there.

   Festival of Wreaths

t’s about time to get your Christmas wreaths and other decorations ready for the Christmas holidays.  This year we are asking small groups, families, and individuals to decorate wreaths anyway they like and donate them to First United Methodist Church to be purchased. We will display the wreaths for 2 Sundays leading up to “Come to Christmas” on Sunday, November 30th.   During “Come to Christmas”, the wreaths can be purchased, and all the monies collected will go into the Good Sam Fund here at First Church.  For more information, please contact Laura Hughes at 366-7832.

                           Come to Christmas

November 30, 2008

Food, fun, and fellowship…What better way to celebrate the season?  Join us Sunday, November 30th at 4:30 pm for a lovely service immediately followed by dinner.  Bring a salad or dessert to share and we’ll provide the rest.  There will be fun holiday crafts for all ages, including a “hands on” mission project for all to participate in!  Find out if you have been “naughty or nice” when you visit our special guest!  We hope to see you there!

Christmas Eve Services

Christmas Eve is Wednesday this year.  We will have two services, both with candle lighting.

Traditional Worship with carols, harp, choir, handbells, and organ from 5:30 - 6:30 pm.

CrossWind Christmas Eve from 8:00 - 9:00 pm.

 Special Christmas Services

 Sunday, December 21st

Mark your calendar now and invite a friend or neighbor to enjoy these Christmas musical presentations.  The music will be our “sermon” for the morning.

The 9:30 am CrossWind Service will featrure the Preschool and Children’s Choirs singing charming and delightful Christmas songs from around the world.  The Youth Handbell Choir will also perform.  Attendance will be high for this service because of all the preschool families.

The 11:00 am traditional service will feature a truly beautiful piece of music,  “Carols and Lullabies”, by Conrad Susa, written for choir, guitar, marimba, and harp.  This is such an enjoyable piece of music - let’s try to fill the pews with first-time guests.
